MMMM that bread was good
Psst, hey it’s me Coby. I just had to tell you a little about what I was up to today. I was watching Mom. She totally forgot that the Kid put the bread over on the couch. I just decided to bide my time till she wasn’t looking and like a flash, have my meal. My chance came. She went outside to throw the garbage away. When she came back in I just whistled and looked around like nothing happened, hoping she wouldn’t look in my cubby. Mom is too smart, sometimes. She went right to my cubby and found the loaf of bread half torn up. Needless to say she was pretty mad about it. I didn’t eat ALL of it, just half of it. She still had enough to make the Kid a sandwich! I am sneaking out now to tell you I have been on punishment since she found me out. I hate being stuck int he cubby
I guess I looked TOO much like I did nothing wrong. I have to work on that next time. I always give myself away.

FLEAS@!!!
I found that Coby all of a sudden acquired fleas from somewhere. Apparently, the flea collar that we have only had on him for about 2 months no longer works SO I went out and bought some things to get him back to normal. I was looking for garlic tablets, but the local pet store was out. I ended up at the super store buying Nature’s Guardian flea and tick repellent. This stuff worked on contact. I am glad that I didn’t buy the way more expensive brands. This is all natural, which is a plus in my book. I got him some Brewer’s Yeast with Garlic yesterday, too. He eats them up and looks for more. I will definitely have to keep them around. All in all, it wasn’t THAT expensive to treat him. The package of repellent was $8.88 and it gives you 3 doses.

Summer Shedding
NOT my idea of fun. I didn’t know until I owned a large dog who is a HOUSE dog that they shed twice a year. Talk about EW. I saw a shaved down German Shepherd today. She looked a bit crazy, but I bet her owners aren’t dealing with the huge amount of hair bunnies that I have running rampant around my house.
That hair gets into everything. I vacuum every day and try to brush Coby every other day. That’s usually when he has molted more and it is easier to remove the clumps that are working their way free. He has a bad habit of rolling all around the floor and leaving clumps of hair that resemble peeled cigarette filters all over the place. He is also rather itchy, so he is forever scratching. Brushing him out helps a lot, though.

Coby on Squidoo
I have just made a Squidoo lens for Pet Care. Check it out. I added a few products that we use or are soon to be buying for others to see. I also have a link to it under Tips on the sidebar!

Arm & Hammer Carpet with Pet Hair Release

Can you believe this stuff actually works? I am so shocked that I am walking on carpet without Coby’s hair between my toes! Yay for me! I am definitely going to be keeping some of this handy. The problem is that I have to leave it on the carpet for 15 minutes. It bothers my nose and eyes! It also bothers my son’s nose and eyes. SOOO I will have to wait till he is busy in his room, the dog is outside, and I can retreat to my room so I can use it. I still think it’s worth it!

How to keep a dog occupied
I have been putting him on the treadmill a little at a time. He hates it with a passion even though he does run well on it. He has two favorite toys: an owl and a lobster. He can throw those around for an hour or two each. Other than that, he likes to take sprints back and forth through the house.
I hear that destructive behaviors are usually the characteristics of boredom. So, when I have him on the side porch all afternoon and he tears up my screen door trying to get back inside, I guess he is bored. We weren’t home when he did that, though. We came back to that little treat.
Sometimes I give him treats in his kong. He loves to figure that out. I want to give him a more puzzling toy to figure out, though. The kong he has is simple to figure and he gets bored with it rather quickly. Any suggestions on puzzling kongs for a 50 pound puppy?

Runaway dog
He got it into his head to take off around the neighborhood for a jaunt. Neither my husband or I ran after him. He came back even faster than last time he left…20 minutes. He wasn’t even dirty this time. He DID go to the wrong door, so the neighbor came outside to the dog sitting on his porch. I prayed that he wouldn’t get into any fights or kill any cats. He got hold of the neighbors cat the other day *thanks to my wonderful son letting the dog out to get the cat* but the cat was only scared. Coby just held him down, and dropped him when I told him to…what more can you ask for?
